Laboratory Assistant

Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in the receipt, identification, processing, and storage of biological specimens. You will also be responsible for performing various clerical, processing, and laboratory duties, including maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning.
Responsibilities- Process and store biological specimens, including blood and urine samples
- Verify specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling
- Perform clerical and processing duties, including maintaining supply inventory and filing
- Work with various computer information systems on a daily basis
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure efficient and accurate specimen processing
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology is preferred
- Previous experience in a medical laboratory setting is desired
- Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
