We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team at JBS USA Holdings, Inc. in the East Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and will play a key role in maintaining compliance with all state and federal laws and company policies on industrial safety and health.
Key Responsibilities- Accident and Illness Program Management: Assist in the handling of the accident and illness program, conducting hazard and risk analyses, and ensuring that all occupational safety and health tasks are completed as scheduled and required.
- Reporting and Communication: Assist in submitting regular reports on the status of safety and health to senior management and work with management to help them understand the various roles and activities in the safety and health management system.
- Advisor and Trainer: Act as an advisor to senior management, supervisors, and the Occupational Health Department when needed, conduct monthly supervisor safety training classes, and supervise departmental monthly safety and health training.
- Accident Investigation and Prevention: Maintain and track the accident record system, investigate accidents, and check on corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Plant Safety Inspections: Conduct weekly plant safety inspections and make daily plant inspections to uncover unsafe work practices and conditions before they cause accidents.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and company policies on industrial safety and health, and assist in managing exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation programs.
- Personal Protective Equipment and Machine Guarding: Assist in setting standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding, and work with the Occupational Health Department to develop the ergonomics program.
- Equipment Design and Inspection: Assist in approving designs for new and modified equipment and inspect such equipment before putting it into operation.
- Certified Safety Professional: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five years related experience in poultry or meat processing plant.
- Communication and Computer Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office); SAP experience is preferred.
- Language Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Adaptability: Must be able to work in adverse conditions and flexible days/hours when needed.
