Loan Operations Director

Role Purpose:
The Director of Lending will oversee the planning, direction, and supervision of workflows for loan origination, decisioning, processing, funding, and servicing of all consumer loans and real estate loans to achieve desired production, credit risk performance, and service quality standards. This role is responsible for the daily management of the Consumer Loan and Mortgage department staff, including direct supervision of consumer loan officers, loan department support staff, indirect sales, and mortgage loan officers. Compliance with all policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve desired production, credit risk performance, and service quality standards by effectively planning, directing, and supervising workflows of all consumer loans and real estate loans.
- Responsible for the daily management of lending staff, including direct supervision of consumer loan officers, loan department support staff, indirect sales, and mortgage loan officers.
- Ensure efficient and effective loan processing, underwriting, closing, and funding practices, incorporating technological solutions to increase efficiency when possible.
- Monitor consumer loan and real estate workflows and adjust resources to maintain expected service delivery standards.
- Provide input to Senior Management regarding setting of lending goals and coach staff to achieve those goals.
- Observe the marketplace for consumer, economic, and competitor trends and recommend changes for improved organizational performance.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all phases of the consumer and mortgage loan programs and ensure procedures are in alignment with policies, laws, and regulations.
- Effectively manage risk and credit quality within lending policy guidelines, underwriting loans within Board-approved limits and in accordance with established lending guidelines.
- Oversee all loan servicing research requests, reconstruct, and correct loans as needed.
- Direct, motivate, measure, and coach the activities of direct reports, conducting timely and constructive performance evaluations and providing recommendations for career development.
- Work to increase knowledge, technical skills, and professional development through available internal and external sources.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as deemed appropriate.
