Position Overview

The Marsico Institute is seeking applications for an Early Childhood Curriculum Development Coach. This role involves collaboration within a team focused on an efficacy research initiative aimed at implementing and assessing an early childhood curriculum under the guidance of the Principal Investigators and Project Director. The coach will ensure the fidelity of the interdisciplinary pre-K Connect4Learning (C4L) curriculum, emphasizing mathematics, literacy, workforce readiness, life skills, and science in preschool settings.

Key Responsibilities

Teacher Support and Development (80%)

  • Engage regularly with instructional staff from local preschools.
  • Provide guidance to educators as they adopt the Connect4Learning curriculum, including demonstrating curriculum activities and methodologies.
  • Track and document teacher implementation of the curriculum, maintaining coaching logs and debrief forms after each visit.
  • Utilize video recording and virtual collaboration tools to capture program implementation.
  • Participate in regular meetings with project leadership to discuss teacher progress and strategies for supporting curriculum implementation.
  • Travel to various school sites to observe classroom dynamics during designated hours.

Professional Growth Support (10%)

  • Attend professional development sessions for both coaches and teachers throughout the academic year.
  • Facilitate breakout sessions during teacher training events.

Assessment and Evaluation (10%)

  • Conduct classroom observations to evaluate program implementation and teaching effectiveness.
  • Administer child assessments following established protocols.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to establish rapport with educators, young learners, and school staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Proficient in working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite/O365, video recording equipment, and virtual collaboration software.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in early childhood educational settings.
  • Background as a director, instructional coach, or classroom teacher.
  • Fluency in English.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Work Schedule

This position operates during standard school hours, with responsibilities spanning multiple school sites.

Work Environment

This role includes both remote and in-person responsibilities, primarily conducted in educational settings.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  2. Capability to observe classroom activities and interactions.
  3. Ability to stand for prolonged periods in a classroom environment.
  4. Daily travel to various school locations is necessary.
