Details

Williams College is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Chief Financial Planning Officer. This role will report directly to the AVP for Finance and will oversee the management of the institution's operational and capital budgets, alongside long-term financial forecasting. The Chief Financial Planning Officer will guide a dedicated team focused on budget formulation, financial evaluations, and reporting to aid senior leadership in strategic resource distribution and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership capabilities in budgeting, financial modeling, capital management, and treasury operations. They should demonstrate integrity and possess a meticulous, action-oriented, results-driven, collaborative, and continuous improvement approach.

The Chief Financial Planning Officer will be instrumental in furthering the college's mission to foster a supportive educational atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the budget team in the creation, execution, and assessment of the annual operating budget, ensuring transparent resource allocation across various funds in collaboration with leadership.
  • Partnering with managers and senior executives to compile and prioritize schedules that support the budgeting process.
  • Developing and implementing financial models to assess strategic initiatives and program advancements.
  • Delivering analyses and reports to enable informed decision-making by senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.
  • Overseeing budget management in Workday, including data entry and upkeep.
  • Collaborating with external advisors on financial matters.
  • Participating in the reconciliation of financial activities across diverse sources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Financial Management or equivalent.
  • MBA, CFA, CPA, or pertinent experience is required.
  • Expertise in financial modeling and forecasting techniques.
  • Ability to manage data proficiently and present key insights effectively.
  • Experience in debt management, treasury, and cash flow management.
  • Strong organizational abilities and capacity to handle multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative approach and ability to foster relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in financial planning systems, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in higher education and familiarity with Financial Planning tools is preferred.
