Compensation:

$44.50 Hourly

Overview:

The Radiological Control Specialist is responsible for conducting essential radiological assessments for the safe release of materials, performing contamination surveys, and managing airborne radioactivity levels. This role involves providing oversight for radiological operations, drafting radiological work permits, enforcing compliance with radiological standards, and ensuring adherence to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles during operational activities. The specialist will also respond to radiological incidents as necessary, ensuring the safe execution of radiological tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct radiological surveys and monitoring for personnel and materials.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to facility staff on radiological practices.
  • Perform ongoing surveillance and assessments related to radiological control.
  • Offer constructive feedback to supervisors regarding training adequacy and program implementation.
  • Maintain professional qualifications through continuous education and training.
Qualifications:
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
  • Experience in providing radiological support for maintenance and operational tasks involving radioactive materials.
  • Proficient in monitoring radiation, contamination, and airborne radioactivity in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • All activities must be conducted under the supervision of a qualified Radiological Control Technician.
Education and Experience:

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • DOE Core Certification.
  • Certification from a vocational institution in radiation protection or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of field experience in radiological monitoring and coverage in regulated environments.
