Auto Physical Damage Claims Trainee

About the Role

This is a formal training program designed to develop skills for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving claims on losses of lesser value and complexity. As a trainee, you'll work closely with experienced claims professionals to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills in claim handling, customer service, and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Completes required training program, which includes online, virtual, classroom, and on-the-job training.
  • Participates in ongoing training sessions for the inside auto business.
  • Works closely with Unit Manager or mentor to promptly resolve assigned claims.
  • Delivers consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact, explaining the process, setting expectations, ongoing communication, follows-through, and meeting commitments to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes coverage and applies policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements for Auto Damage only claims in assigned jurisdictions.
  • Investigates each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage, causation, extent of liability, establishment of negligence, damages, contribution potential, and exposure.
  • Recognizes and requests appropriate inspection types based on the details of the loss and coordinates the appraisal process.
  • Establishes timely and maintains appropriate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determines settlement amounts based on appraisal estimates, negotiates, and conveys claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or a minimum of 2 years of work or customer service-related experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership attitude and customer-centric response to all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail ensuring accuracy.
  • Keyboard skills and Windows proficiency, including Excel and Word.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Judgment/decision-making.
