Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Junior Planning Aide to join our team in the Planning Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the City Planner and performing a variety of tasks to support the City Planning Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials for planning activities, including reports, presentations, and other documents.
  • Meet with the public to explain program services, requirements, and other information.
  • Manage records systems and maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Assist the City Planner in the performance of routine tasks, including data compilation and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of planning and zoning principles, as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Operate a personal computer and utilize common office software programs.
Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Associate degree in city planning, public administration, urban design, or a closely related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Two years of clerical experience in a planning, building, or engineering office, or equivalent experience.
