In this dynamic field role, the Safety Officer operates primarily in the field with minimal office work. However, the position requires the preparation of detailed reports documenting any identified deficiencies or violations, along with suggested corrective actions and supporting narratives.

Applicants should possess professional qualifications as a Safety Officer, with relevant experience in areas such as construction, inspection, fire safety, risk management, engineering, or architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct thorough surveys of facilities to ensure compliance with federal and state life safety laws and regulations, which may involve extensive physical activity such as walking, crawling, and climbing.

- Prepare detailed inspection reports that outline deficiencies and provide professionally written documentation in accordance with established principles.

- Visit facilities to confirm the rectification of previously noted regulatory violations.

- Facilitate entrance and exit discussions with facility personnel regarding inspection findings.

- Offer expert knowledge on National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Code requirements and relevant local, state, and federal standards to promote compliance.

- Collaborate with agency staff conducting certification surveys for facilities participating in federal Medicare and Medicaid programs.

- Perform desk reviews and evaluate plans of correction to ensure adherence to regulations.

- Respond to inquiries from providers both in person and via telephone.

- Maintain regular attendance in accordance with agency policies and perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in operating personal computers and office equipment.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex compliance issues relative to various standards and regulations.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports detailing inspection outcomes.

- Capability to apply state and federal regulations during detailed inspections of long-term care facilities.
