Position Summary
At Desert Sage Health Centers, we pride ourselves on being a community-focused organization where our staff and patients are treated like family. We are seeking a dedicated full-time Bilingual Patient Registration team member who is enthusiastic, self-driven, and excels in customer service.
As a recognized Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), we serve over 6,400 patients annually across multiple health center locations. Our integrated care model emphasizes preventive health and aims to minimize healthcare disparities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist all patients and visitors with a friendly demeanor.
- Identify the purpose of visits or calls and guide individuals to the appropriate areas.
- Conduct intake procedures, including explaining necessary forms.
- Update and confirm demographic information for existing patients, including contact details and insurance coverage.
- Register new patients efficiently.
- Check-in patients promptly, ensuring minimal wait times.
- Participate in daily huddles with clinical staff to discuss scheduling and patient needs.
- Assess appointment requests based on established protocols and patient medical requirements.
- Maintain and update eligibility reports.
- Reschedule appointments as needed and gauge patient satisfaction.
- Stay informed about current scheduling standards and tools.
- Provide information on sliding scale discounts for eligible patients.
- Explain the 340B medication program and ensure accurate patient information.
- Collect payments from patients during check-in.
- Direct medication refill requests to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Address various issues related to patient records and insurance information.
- Balance cash box at the start and end of each day.
- Understand policies regarding patient payment plans.
- Collaborate with Patient Accounts to resolve account issues.
- Uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity.
- Be available for occasional evening and weekend shifts as required.
- Assist in training new staff members as necessary.
- Be prepared to travel between health center locations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is mandatory.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in a primary care setting is preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a courteous and empathetic approach.
- Proficient in using electronic health records and phone systems.
- Able to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
- Preferred experience in public-facing roles.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act.
- Good judgment in handling clinical emergencies and behavioral health issues.
