Position Overview

The Clinical Nurse Specialist provides essential nursing care for patients, working under the guidance of a physician.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and other patient care activities. - 20%
  • Coordinates patient appointments for diagnostic tests, consultations, referrals, and hospital admissions. - 10%
  • Oversees and maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures the proper functioning of medical equipment. - 10%
  • Records patients' vital signs and other relevant data in their medical charts, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete. Collects brief medical histories and chief complaints from patients. - 15%
  • Processes prescription requests for patients in accordance with physician directives. - 10%
  • Prepares examination rooms with the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring cleanliness between procedures. - 10%
  • Handles clinically related phone communications, screening and directing those needing physician attention. - 10%
  • Completes medical history forms and other necessary documentation for insurance purposes. - 10%
  • Notifies the physician of any scheduling changes. - 5%

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not involve management duties and reports to a supervisor, director, or executive.

Qualifications

Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program with RN qualification.

Preferred: 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Licenses and Certifications

Must possess a valid South Carolina RN License.

Desirable Skills and Experience

Proficient in basic computer operations.

Familiarity with office equipment such as fax machines and copiers.

Data entry capabilities.

Strong mathematical skills.

Additional Information

Team members in this role prior to a specified date are recognized under previous educational and experience criteria. Additionally, team members must be eligible for certification and will have a designated timeframe to obtain the necessary certifications.
