Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III to join our team at NHRMC - New Hanover Regional Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician III, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in medication preparation, including selecting, counting, compounding, packaging, delivering, and labeling medications according to established departmental guidelines.
  • Triage telephone calls in the pharmacy and assist customers at the pharmacy window.
  • Process patient charges and credits as needed.
  • Maintain adequate levels of stock and supplies in dispensing areas, including prepackaging or assembly of medications for future dispensing.
  • Operate pharmacy automated systems and perform basic operations in the outpatient pharmacy, including filling prescriptions and operating the cash register.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in pharmacy computer systems and perform pharmacy and medication unit inspections.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new pharmacists, technicians, students, and residents, and provide evaluation feedback on training performance.
Requirements
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a pharmacy technician at NHRMC or four years of hospital pharmacy experience, including IV and chemotherapy training, or graduation from an ASHP-accredited pharmacy technology associates program.
  • Ability to demonstrate standards of performance, including ownership, teamwork, communication, and compassion, that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
