About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at UC San Diego Health. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining and processing medical instruments and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to regulatory guidelines and hospital policy
  • Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements
  • Assist with ordering and procuring equipment and instrumentation as needed
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
Requirements
  • Must possess the abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • Sterile Processing Tech Certification (CRCST, CPSPD) (for Tech III)
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date
  • Two (2) years of recent experience in a similar role and setting (for Tech II)
  • Three (3) years of recent experience in a similar role and setting (for Tech III)
  • Demonstrated skill and proficiency with a variety of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and equipment
  • Knowledge of effective inventory storage and retrieval practices
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in the decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization procedures of surgical instruments
  • Completion of SPD course (for Tech III)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sterile Processing Tech Certification (for tech I and II)
