The Legal Aid Society is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Attorney to lead our Parole Revocation Defense Unit. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising a team of attorneys, developing training curricula, and coordinating training schedules. You will also be responsible for communicating with clients and their families, trouble-shooting issues arising from parole and corrections personnel, and assisting in formulating and implementing policies.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise a team of attorneys and provide guidance and support as needed
- Develop and deliver training curricula and materials for new attorneys and staff
- Coordinate training schedules and ensure that all staff receive necessary training
- Communicate with clients and their families, and trouble-shoot issues arising from parole and corrections personnel
- Assist in formulating and implementing policies and procedures
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the NYS Bar
- At least five years of practice experience
- Knowledge of the applicable Executive Law and administrative regulations as they pertain to post-release supervision and parole violations
- Excellent writing and courtroom advocacy skills
- Understanding of the operations of the criminal justice system and the NYS parole revocation hearing process
