We are committed to modernizing our operations and enhancing the experience of our employees.
We are currently seeking a part-time Attending Veterinarian to join our In Vivo Services Department, working three days a week on-site.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Attending Veterinarian will be responsible for:
- Offering expert consultation on animal health and welfare, including reviewing client protocols and ensuring appropriate anesthesia and analgesia for laboratory animals.
- Overseeing the animal care and use program, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory guidelines and safety protocols.
- Managing the veterinary service team and ensuring adherence to USDA, NIH, and AAALAC regulations.
- Providing training on animal care and usage as required.
- Participating in the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) processes.
- Implementing effective methods for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases in laboratory animals.
- Performing surgical procedures and providing anesthesia support as needed.
- Being available for after-hours consultation regarding animal health emergencies.
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Doctoral degree (DVM/VMD) from an accredited veterinary school.
- A valid California Veterinarian License.
- A minimum of one year of veterinary experience.
- Demonstrated veterinary diagnostic skills.
- Basic surgical skills, including post-operative care.
- Experience with laboratory animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, and mice is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of laboratory animal medicine and surgery is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being capable of independent work.
Compensation and Benefits: The pay range for this part-time position is $68,640 - $74,880, with the final offer depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. This role is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401k plan.
