A DAY IN THE LIFE

The Technical Writer II role involves providing quality assurance reviews for various company documents, focusing on grammar, clarity, and adherence to branding guidelines. Additionally, this position supports project management by assisting with tasks such as project setup, data entry, and document editing.

This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including:
  • Reviewing, formatting, and editing a range of documents, such as reports, proposals, technical memoranda, and marketing materials
    • Comprehensive editing: ensuring content completeness, accuracy, and appropriate language
    • Copyediting: verifying mechanical correctness and stylistic consistency
    • Proofreading: comparing final documents with marked-up versions to confirm all corrections are made
  • Assisting with writing and editing tasks for business development initiatives
  • Participating in the creation of marketing brochures, conference materials, and public relations announcements
  • Establishing and maintaining corporate standards for documentation, including style guides
  • Ensuring documents meet editorial and client specifications, adhering to quality and style standards
  • Recommending layouts, graphics, and illustrations to enhance publication objectives
  • Reviewing document templates for necessary updates
  • Delivering brief instructional presentations on language and writing topics to staff
  • Staying informed on advancements in technical writing and editing practices
  • Supporting operations through the production of external reports, including formatting and shipping coordination
  • Coordinating security clearance submissions for employees and subcontractors
  • Assisting with various operational and project-related tasks as needed
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of English grammar and technical editing standards
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proactive, self-motivated individual with flexibility and strong organizational abilities
  • Proven ability to maintain precision and accuracy in document presentation
  • Capability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, and other relevant software
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred degree in English, communications, technical writing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of editing experience in a professional setting, ideally within an engineering or consulting environment
Travel

Minimal travel may be required as needed.

Physical Demands

This position may require extended periods of sitting and using office equipment, as well as occasional lifting of materials weighing up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment
