Materials and Processes Engineer

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Materials and Processes Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our spacecraft and systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement materials and processes for aerospace-grade components, including aluminum, steel, and composites.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test materials and processes for space vehicle systems.
  • Lead the development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize and accelerate joint evaluation, implementation, and qualification.
  • Work with suppliers to qualify and develop new materials and processes.
  • Contribute to the development of specifications, supplier qualification, First Article Inspection, mechanical testing, and customer-facing updates.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Aerospace, Materials Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in M&P Engineering on a production space program.
  • Strong knowledge of NASA joining requirements and associated standards.
  • Experience with adhesively bonded joints in aerospace applications.
  • Ability to travel to support development and testing opportunities at other Blue Origin and vendor sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace, Materials Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience running ambient, elevated temperature, and cryogenic thermomechanical testing.
