Job Summary:

The Market Investigator is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring that our stores' operations and daily functions align with our company's programs and policies. This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can monitor and measure store process performance in various categories, including Office/Cash Sales, Loss Prevention, Physical Security, Safety, and Personnel Training and Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Monthly Stores LP Audit: Conduct thorough audits of our stores to assess their compliance with our company's programs and policies. Score store performance based on specific criteria and report findings to Store Managers, Field Managers, and Corporate Management.
  • Advise and Consult with Store Managers: Provide guidance and support to Store Managers on improving the in-store experience based on store audits. Offer recommendations on how to enhance store operations and reduce losses.
  • Train Store Managers and Team Members: Train Store Managers and Team Members on Family Dollar procedures and compliance, including Cash Management, Loss Prevention, Physical Security, Safety, Robbery Prevention, Product Freshness, and Display Compliance.
  • Plan and Facilitate Storewide Meetings: Organize and lead storewide meetings to review procedures and policies with Asset Protection Specialists (APS), store Team Members, and Store Managers.
  • Monitor and Manage District's Target Program: Utilize exception reporting (XBR & SAER) and partnership with Corporate Sales Audit Department to monitor District Cash and Sales (OIS) losses and investigate cash or inventory loss trends.
  • Conduct In-Store Surveillances: Conduct in-store surveillances using Loss Prevention tools I-Verify and DVR to identify and escalate potential internal integrity issues, safety concerns, fines, lost sales, and others.
  • Conduct Loss Prevention Quality Store Visits (LPQSV): Conduct thorough store visits to assess store operations and identify areas for improvement. Conduct Honesty Conversations with store Team Members to address any concerns or issues.
  • Ensure Asset Protection Equipment is in Good Working Order: Ensure that Store's Asset Protection Equipment is in good working order and is being utilized effectively, including CCTV, Interactive CCTV, Exit Alarms, Burglar Alarms, Safes, Drop Boxes, and Checkpoint.
  • Report Suspected Fraudulent Activity: Report suspected fraudulent activity to Loss Prevention Business Partners.
  • Assist with Special Projects: Assist with special projects that impact the given market, such as the Target Program and Shrink Impact Stores.
  • Follow Company Policies and Procedures: Ensure that all Company Policies and Procedures are followed and implemented effectively.

Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of high school or equivalent; college preferred.
  • Ability to Read, Interpret, and Explain Operational Directives: Ability to read, interpret, and explain to others operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
  • Experience: Prefer store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments. Field experience in local market and/or loss prevention training a plus.
  • Requirements: Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access).
  • Ability to Travel: Ability to travel locally and overnight as needed. Valid Driver's License.
