About the Role:

As a key member of the Extang team, the Senior Buyer will play a critical role in leading procurement activities and driving business growth. This position will be responsible for managing a large portion of procurement activities for Extang, as well as taking on broad responsibility across Truck Hero for a defined commodity group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze category trends to manage supply risk and minimize total costs.
  • Optimize commodity strategies, forward buying, tariffs, currency risk, and landed cost.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand and determine supply needs and product development/engineering and evaluation requirements.
  • Drive the RFQ process and effectively manage supplier performance for quality, price, delivery, and service.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including the development of new product concepts and optimized services.
  • Quantify MRO spend and lead RFQ process for opportunity categories.
  • Team with Operations leadership to gather required data and perform analysis to develop short and long-term action plans for continuous improvement opportunities, initiatives, and cost savings.
  • Source material requirements to the required specification at a competitive best landed cost terms and in accordance with program and/or budget targets.
  • Participate in APQP and all activities and drive suppliers towards on-time product launch and/or design changes.
  • Ensure no disruption of material supply that can risk a production interruption.
  • Expedite orders to ensure on-time deliveries as needed.
  • Negotiate supplier penalty for non-performance.
  • Actively evaluate and participate in the supplier qualification process.
  • Lead in supplier contract review and negotiation activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, operations management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of supply chain experience, including significant negotiation and supplier qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Experience in lean implementation and continuous improvement tools.
