Job Title: Metal Trade Apprentice

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Metal Trade Apprentice to join our team at Enerfab. As a Metal Trade Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in welding, metalworking, machining, and other trade-specific tasks, working alongside experienced union tradespeople.

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist in the fabrication, cutting, shaping, and assembly of metal parts and structures.
* Learn and perform basic welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
* Assist with operating various tools and machinery such as hand tools, grinders, drill presses, and cutting equipment. Assist with setting up tools and equipment for Journeyman.
* Follow detailed instructions, blueprints, and technical drawings to perform tasks accurately.
* Assist in the fabrication of metal structures and equipment as well as maintenance and repair of equipment.
* Assist with basic rigging of metal structures including the use of overhead cranes, jib cranes, and gantry cranes. Use of nylon slings, wire ropes and skates.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored and equipment is maintained.
* Follow safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
* Participate in training programs and gain knowledge of industry standards, trade best practices, and safety regulations.
* Support tradespeople in various tasks as required and assist with heavy lifting or moving materials.

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED equivalent.
* Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods, lifting heavy materials, and working in confined spaces.
* Basic understanding of math and measurements related to metalworking.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
* Listen to and follow detailed instructions.

Preferred:

* Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or metalworking environment is a plus.
* Basic familiarity with tools and equipment used in metal trades.

* Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of machinery and tools, with the ability to learn more complex equipment.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with guidance.
* Safety Awareness: Adherence to safety protocols and the ability to identify potential hazards.
