Key Responsibilities- Assist the certificated teacher in implementing lesson plans and supporting inclusion students in a general education classroom.
- Provide individualized support to students with disabilities, including assistance with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility.
- Facilitate social interactions and foster positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.
- Utilize positive behavior management techniques to support students with challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with the instructional team to provide direct services and support to students.
- Assist with health care and first aid as needed, under the direction of the District nurse.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Attend meetings and participate in inservice training as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and move students as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification required.
The Para Educator will work in a general education classroom setting, with occasional opportunities to work in other areas of the school as needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
