Produce Team Member Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Team Member to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a Produce Team Member, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our produce department is always stocked with fresh and high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce Display and Merchandising: Ensure that our produce displays are always visually appealing and well-stocked. This includes rotating products, checking codes, and removing out-of-date items.
  • Assisting Team Leader: Assist the team leader in organizing and displaying volume and seasonal items.
  • Preventing Spoilage: Monitor and prevent spoilage, and communicate waste to buyers, team leaders, and shift supervisors.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with periodic inventory checks and complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques.
  • Merchandising and Sales: Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Store Maintenance: Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, and maintain equipment in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Opening, Mid, and Closing Duties: Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, and ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.

Requirements:

  • Ability to Sell Proactively: Ability to sell proactively and learn basic knowledge of all products carried in the department.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for 6-8 hours, and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to FDA-Approved Cleaning Chemicals: Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to Work a Flexible Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
