Position Overview:
The State of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Motor Carrier Information Center Assistant. This position is ideal for those who possess a strong background in customer service and have a keen attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to intricate inquiries regarding DMV regulations, policies, and procedures related to Motor Carrier services through various communication channels, ensuring high-quality customer service standards are met.
• Assess documentation submitted by customers to confirm compliance with IRP and IFTA requirements.
• Verify the status of carriers using state and federal systems prior to issuing credentials, ensuring that customer accounts are accurately maintained.
• Handle incoming calls and emails for the Motor Carrier Services Information Center and assist with daily operational tasks.
• Reconcile inventory and prepare daily activity reports, ensuring accurate financial transactions are recorded.
• Maintain comprehensive records for state and federal reporting, ensuring that all documentation is readily available for audits and reviews.
• Conduct research and compile reports for management as needed.
• Stay informed about the latest developments in Motor Carrier Services and related regulations to provide accurate information to customers.
• Report daily productivity metrics and maintain output levels as established by the department.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
• A high school diploma with two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain policies and procedures effectively.
• Proficiency in basic computer operations and the ability to manage multi-line phone systems.
• Ability to work under general supervision following training, adhering to established policies and procedures.
• Capability to lift 10-15 lbs and sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
