BluePearl Pet Hospital in Sandy Springs, GA is seeking a skilled Radiation Oncology Veterinary Technician

  • As a Radiation Oncology Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
  • You will work closely with our experienced veterinarians and technicians to provide top-notch care to our patients.
  • Responsibilities will include performing basic RT patient set-ups, administering radiation doses, and discharging patients from the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding radiation energies and modalities, and their appropriate uses.
  • Performing basic RT patient set-ups under the supervision of doctors and higher-level technicians.
  • Administering radiation doses to patients under the supervision of higher-level technicians.
  • Discharging Oncology patients from the hospital, including basic client education.
  • Admitting Oncology patients and obtaining thorough histories, including current medications and dosages.
  • Applying critical thinking skills to understand laboratory results and notify doctors appropriately.
  • Understanding pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of commonly used medications.
  • Placing peripheral over-the-needle catheters in all peripheral vessels.
  • Recognizing abnormal heart and lung sounds.
  • Accurately calculating medical math, including advanced and CRIs.
  • Recognizing patients at risk for arrest and initiating CPR according to R.E.C.O.V.E.R guidelines.
  • Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia.
  • Maintaining and caring for anesthesia equipment.
