Job Summary

The Employee Benefits Advocate will educate union members about voluntary benefit plans, communicate available programs to eligible members, and assist members in enrolling in elected benefits through various enrollment platforms. This position offers a flexible schedule, paid travel, training, and a per day contract rate.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Benefits Education and Enrollment

    The Benefits Enrollment Specialist will actively participate in case, enrollment, product, and systems training. Through face-to-face, telephonic, and/or web-based platforms, educate union members about benefit programs and communicate available benefit programs to eligible members.

  2. Enrollment and Data Management

    The Voluntary Benefits Coordinator will enroll members in elected programs through web-based and/or electronic enrollment systems. Accurately and thoroughly complete and submit all applications in compliance with data entry and data privacy policies and regulations.

  3. Professional Conduct and Confidentiality

    The Employee Benefits Advocate will conduct all business and actions according to the highest possible standards of professional conduct. Maintain confidences and protect confidential and proprietary information obtained in the course of employment.

Requirements
  • Educational Requirements

    A high school diploma is required. An active state life and health insurance license is also required.

  • Experience Requirements

    Insurance background and/or voluntary benefits experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have computer skills, including experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Internet Explorer; Adobe Acrobat; databases; and web-based contact management systems. The candidate should be able to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make recommendations. Additionally, the candidate should be reliable, professional, and able to work with a diverse group of clients and staff. The candidate should also be able to work in a fast-paced team environment and be flexible to manage changing parameters and timelines.
