Emergency Department Float Nurse, Eden Medical Center

Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse II, Emergency Department Float Specialist at EMC - Eden Medical Center, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department environment. This role requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, coordinate, and deliver nursing care to patients in the emergency department, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers through timely and effective communication.
- Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws and regulations to promote an optimal patient experience.
- Float between various locations, including Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland and Berkeley, and Delta Medical Center in Antioch.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- RN-Registered Nurse licensure for the state where care is provided.
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- ENPC-Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification within 180 days if required by entity.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 90 days.
- Trauma Nursing Corp Course (TNCC) certification within 180 days of hire if required by entity.
- 2 years of recent relevant experience.
- Department-specific experience in PACU, ED, or ICU in a multiple specialty acute care facility within the last two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated general knowledge and competence with regard to nursing theories, concepts, and practices.
- Working knowledge of the healthcare industry, safety precaution policies, best practices regarding patient care and privacy, and changes in local/state/federal regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
- Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize patient care, assignments, and work within standardized policies, procedures, and practices to achieve objectives and meet time-sensitive activities.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Outlook).
Working Conditions:
This position may regularly work with hazardous drugs identified as such by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for purposes of USP 800.
