Job Title: Substance Abuse Counselor - Safe Haven II

Comunilife is seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team in the Bronx. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be responsible for providing individual, family, and group substance abuse counseling and advocacy to clients in our DHS Transitional Housing program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct substance abuse assessments and develop comprehensive service plans for clients.
  • Provide substance abuse counseling and support services to clients, including harm reduction and relapse prevention.
  • Facilitate weekly substance abuse groups and provide individual clinical case management services.
  • Conduct crisis intervention, assessment, advocacy, negotiation, referral, and case planning activities as needed.
  • Train clients in activities of daily living skills and conduct unit/bed inspections.
  • Escort clients to appointments and serve as liaison with various agencies and providers.
  • Participate in weekly individual supervision and team meetings.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Associates degree and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) with five (5) years of substance abuse counseling experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with CASAC-T and 2 years of experience.
  • Experience with individuals with HIV/AIDS, chronic mental illness, and/or chemical dependence and their families a plus.
  • Bilingual - Spanish, a plus.
