The MDA Care Center, recognized as the first of its kind in the state by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), is also an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence.

We seek candidates who possess:

  • A dedication to teamwork, innovation, and collaborative efforts
  • Expertise in neuromuscular and nerve disorders
  • Board certification or eligibility in Neurology and Neuromuscular disorders, along with EMG and/or Clinical Neurophysiology
  • A strong interest in education and academic participation

What we provide:

  • A position focused entirely on outpatient care, with inpatient responsibilities managed by Neurohospitalists
  • Robust interdisciplinary collaboration within the specialty
  • Engagement in the education of medical students, neurology residents, and neurophysiology fellows
  • Opportunities to engage in neuromuscular clinical trials and collaborate with research programs across the university, supported by experienced mentors
  • Integration of a portion of the role with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center
  • 10-20% of unallocated time for personal interests
  • Minimal on-call requirements, only 1-2 nights monthly
  • Comprehensive support for individual professional interests

About the MUSC Neuromuscular Program:

  • A dynamic team comprising 2 faculty members, 1 advanced practice provider, efficient administrative personnel, EMG lab specialists, and nursing staff
  • Access to advanced diagnostic tools, thorough planning, and a variety of both traditional and innovative treatment options
  • Modern, state-of-the-art facilities designed specifically for neuromuscular patients
  • Multiple interdisciplinary clinics that provide advanced diagnostics, rehabilitation services, care coordination, and social support, including the esteemed MDA Care Center and ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellence
