Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Geisinger Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing various analyses from multiple specimen sources, maintaining an expected level of productivity, and managing multiple work processes efficiently.

Job Duties:
  • Perform and report various analyses from multiple specimen sources.
  • Maintain an expected level of productivity.
  • Manage multiple work processes efficiently.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Handle specimens properly.
  • Confirm identification and specimen suitability.
  • Use appropriate accessioning procedures.
  • Recognize discrepancies on patient orders.
  • Resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
  • Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
  • Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
  • Follow established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual as appropriate.
  • Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.
  • Successful completion of initial and subsequent competency exams required.

  • This is a union position.
  • Education Qualification and Details:
  • Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
  • Military experience will be considered and is welcomed. US Army 68K Medical Laboratory Specialist, 71E Clinical Laboratory Scientist, US Navy Medical Laboratory Technician, US Air Force Medical Laboratory Technician 4T0X1 and Biomedical Laboratory Officer (43TX) and related medical specialties.
