Position Overview:

This role involves skilled mechanical work at the journeyman level, focusing on the maintenance and repair of diesel, propane, and gas engine-powered generators ranging from 5kw to 1750kw.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and reassemble generator system components of various sizes and types.
  • Conduct reliability and preventive maintenance checks, ensuring proper operation of generators and related equipment.
  • Perform emergency call-outs beyond regular business hours as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair orders, parts requisitions, and time sheets.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of generator units.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in methods, materials, tools, and standard practices related to generator power equipment.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, particularly concerning high voltages.
  • Ability to interpret electrical systems and schematic diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and working in confined spaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of five years of experience in equipment repair, including three years as a Journeyman Mechanic. Equivalent training and experience may be considered.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to secure a Florida Class B CDL within six months of employment. Applicants should provide their own hand tools relevant to the automotive and mechanical trade.

Special Preference:

Preference will be given to candidates who are ASE certified or hold related certifications.

This position may require reporting for work during emergency declarations.
