Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs is seeking a dedicated individual to engage in research focused on robotic manipulation utilizing visuo-tactile learning methodologies. The goal of this research is to improve robotic motor capabilities for complex manipulation tasks by integrating visual and tactile inputs.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate should have a strong background in one or more of the following domains:
1. Robotic manipulation
2. Tactile sensing technologies
3. Reinforcement Learning techniques
4. Sim-to-real transfer methods for manipulation
5. Grasping strategies

We particularly encourage advanced PhD candidates specializing in robotics and engineering, especially those with a focus on contact-rich manipulation.

Experience with physical robotic systems, including both vision and tactile sensors, is essential, as the research outcomes will be applied to real-world hardware implementations.

A solid understanding of Python machine learning libraries, such as PyTorch, is required.

Successful completion of this internship will lead to collaborative research findings submitted to a reputable robotics journal alongside MERL researchers.
