As a Trailer Mechanic at J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our trailers. You will be responsible for performing complex maintenance, service, and repair of trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment. Your expertise will be essential in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and completing all fleet maintenance processes to meet J.B. Hunt specifications.
Key Responsibilities:- Preventative Maintenance: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and complex repairs as it pertains to trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections.
- Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform the most difficult repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and exceed company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
- Training and Development: Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs and maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times.
- Teamwork and Leadership: May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks.
- Specialized Equipment: May troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair specialized trailer equipment, such as refrigerated units.
- Experience: Must be 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
- Certifications: Must be A/C certified, DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes, and EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License (preferred).
- Physical Demands: Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program, and willing to work outdoors in the elements.
- Compensation: The expected starting pay range for this position is between $43.42 per hour.
- Relocation Assistance: Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates located outside a 50-mile radius of the job.
