Registered Nurse (RN) Resident - Med Surg Tele/Cardiac Step-Down Unit

As a Registered Nurse (RN) Resident in our Med Surg Tele/Cardiac Step-Down Unit, you will have the opportunity to work alongside passionate and dedicated caregivers who are committed to providing exceptional patient care.

Unit Overview

The 9M Med Surg Tele/Cardiac Stepdown Unit provides care to higher acuity med/surg and cardiac stepdown patients who may require telemonitoring or hardwire monitors. These patients may have chest tubes, pleurex catheters, wounds, and other complex medical conditions. This unit is a great place to begin an RN career for those who want to eventually work in the CVICU.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference, and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients' health and initiate action to correct, reduce, or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients' medical records.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. You will also need to stand and walk for extended periods of time and work under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids is also a requirement.
