We are currently looking for a Nursing Supervisor to enhance our residential addiction treatment division. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality patient care through effective management of nursing activities during assigned shifts. The Nursing Supervisor will assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Administrator or designated representative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and uphold nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct regular visits to patient care units to assess patient conditions, evaluate staffing requirements, and support nursing staff.
- Assess and manage patient pain effectively, providing education to patients and families on pain management strategies.
- Ensure all patient care is delivered in a safe environment, minimizing the risk of medical errors.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality within the organization.
- Oversee the distribution and utilization of nursing staff during shifts.
- Coordinate and assess services provided by various departments continuously.
- Keep the Nurse Executive and Administrator informed of significant circumstances affecting patient care.
- Exercise sound judgment in adhering to established hospital policies and procedures.
- Communicate essential patient condition updates and follow-up actions to the incoming shift staff.
- Engage in committee participation and contribute to in-service education programs.
- Document employee performance and communicate findings to the Patient Care Manager.
- Adhere to emergency management protocols and pharmacy procedures.
- Evaluate staffing system accuracy and ensure compliance with operational policies.
- Effectively relay administrative directives to nursing staff.
- Promote the mission, ethics, and goals of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a Master's or Bachelor's degree, possessing knowledge and experience in nursing principles within the psychiatric or recovery sectors.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards from federal, state, and local agencies.
- Experience in regulatory preparation and survey processes related to nursing care and patient safety is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a behavioral health setting is desirable.
Additional Considerations:
- Ongoing education in behavioral health is advantageous.
- Proficiency in information technology is required.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and regulatory standards is essential.
- Ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Capability to lift and carry items up to 15 pounds.
- Must possess mobility to navigate various departments within the organization.
