Senior Powerplant Engineering Specialist

Job Overview
The Senior Powerplant Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, airworthiness, and operational reliability of aircraft at Atlas Air. Reporting directly to the Powerplant Engineering Manager, this position involves overseeing engineering data, documentation, and technical support across various ATA chapters, specifically 24, 26, 30, 36, and 49.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead project development, management, and execution for aircraft repairs, modifications, or alterations.
2. Serve as the primary technical contact for troubleshooting and provide expert guidance on assigned subjects.
3. Issue necessary documentation and instructions to support operational efficiency and ensure timely aircraft service.
4. Analyze OEM Service Bulletins and regulatory documents, including Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs), to initiate required engineering documentation.
5. Support investigations related to safety, regulatory compliance, and reliability issues.
6. Monitor fleet performance and implement corrective actions to enhance fleet health.
7. Collaborate with manufacturers, maintenance representatives, and regulatory personnel to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
8. Establish specifications for component repairs and builds to optimize dispatch reliability while adhering to budgetary and regulatory standards.
9. Manage cross-functional projects within the technical scope.
10. Oversee the Engine Condition Monitoring Program and review the Powerplant segment of the Aircraft Maintenance and Inspection Program.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in Airline, OEM, or MRO environments.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant license is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in technical analysis and a solid understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations.
- Expertise in commercial turbine jet engine specifications and airline maintenance processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and mentor junior engineers.
- Familiarity with aircraft engine systems, turbofan operations, and failure analysis techniques.
