Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Middle School Teacher to join our team. As a Middle School Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a highly-engaged classroom setting that promotes good order and a love of learning. You will develop daily lesson plans, collaborate with co-teachers and other support staff to ensure all students' needs are met, and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instructional Duties:
    • Develop daily lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
    • Collaborate with co-teachers and support staff to ensure all students' needs are met
    • Maintain a highly-engaged classroom setting that promotes good order and a love of learning
    • Highlight student voices and promote student-led discovery of meaning
    • May be asked to serve as an advisor in tandem with a co-advisor by leading a daily advisory class focused on soft skills
    • Complete all grades and comments in a timely fashion
    • Use data to drive instructional decisions
  • Professional Duties:
    • Serve as a key team member, striving to collaborate with colleagues whenever possible
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills
    • Participate in and contribute to teacher team meetings, PLC meetings, and coaching meetings
Requirements
  • Qualifications:
    • Compassionate and passionate about teaching and learning
    • Results-driven and goal-oriented
    • Excellent classroom management skills
    • Effective interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, parents, and students
    • Ability to incorporate reading and writing strategies in classroom instruction
    • Ability to incorporate hands-on and cooperative learning activities
    • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
    • New York State Teaching Certification or in process of reciprocity
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Education or related field
    • NYS certification in field
