About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Product Manager to lead the refinement and improvement of our algorithms at Yahoo News. As a key member of our team, you will drive the development of core recommendation and ranking models to enhance the user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a core ranking product strategy that leverages machine learning and LLMs to improve the news recommendations experience.
  • Partner with data scientists, engineers, and journalists to design, test, and refine ranking models.
  • Balance personalization with diversity and editorial priorities in ranking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with overall product goals and timelines.
  • Provide clear communication and documentation to stakeholders about product developments and algorithmic enhancements.
  • Analyze ranking performance and conduct A/B tests.
  • Implement quality assurance processes to monitor and evaluate algorithmic outputs.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of product management experience, including 2 years of ML product management experience.
  • Strong technical background in machine learning or recommendation systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Quantitative skills for digging into data to drive insights.
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation.
