Financial Project Accountant

Our client, a distinguished firm in the construction sector, is in search of a meticulous Financial Project Accountant to enhance their finance department. This position will oversee project-specific financial responsibilities and contribute to the overall fiscal management of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee job costing for various construction initiatives
  • Compile and evaluate project financial reports
  • Monitor and reconcile project income and expenditures
  • Process and verify payments to subcontractors and modifications
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings
  • Prepare AIA billing documentation and progress invoices
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable related to projects
  • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts for construction initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to construction accounting standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with project leaders to monitor project financials
  • Assist in audit preparation and communication with external auditors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in construction finance
  • In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles and job costing
  • Familiarity with AIA billing and progress billing techniques
  • Experience with construction-oriented accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Procore, or similar)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Understanding of construction contracts and change order processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical capabilities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
