Position Overview

The role involves delivering advanced life support services to individuals experiencing medical emergencies and ensuring safe transportation of patients to healthcare facilities. Additionally, the paramedic will support various services and events as assigned by North Memorial Ambulance Service.

Qualifications

Educational Background

• Completion of a paramedic training program from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• An Associate of Science degree is preferred.

Professional Experience

• Prior experience in an ambulance setting is advantageous.
• Experience in advanced life support is preferred.
• For Air Care Paramedics, a minimum of three (3) years of ALS experience is required.
• Flight experience is preferred for Air Care Paramedics.

Skills and Competencies

• Proven ability to organize, analyze, and make critical decisions in emergency situations while working independently.
• Must possess or quickly gain familiarity with the local street and highway systems within the service area.

Licensure and Certifications

Ground Paramedic Requirements

• Current Paramedic Certification from Minnesota or Wisconsin, or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• Certification in ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association or ALS and BLS from the American Red Cross is required upon hire or within 14 days.
• A valid State Class D driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
• PALS Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required upon hire or within 14 days.
• ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700 certifications or the ability to obtain them within 60 days of hire.

Air Care Paramedic Requirements

• Current Minnesota Paramedic Certification or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
• Current Wisconsin Paramedic Certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
• National Registered Paramedic status is required.
• Certification in ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association or ALS and BLS from the American Red Cross is required upon hire or within 14 days.
• Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• PALS Certification from the American Heart Association and American Red Cross is required upon hire or within 14 days.
• ICS-100, ICS-200, and ICS-700 certifications or the ability to obtain them within 60 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
• Must not exceed a weight of 215 pounds while in uniform.
• A valid State Class D driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is necessary.
