Position Overview:

The role involves the safe and efficient operation of a tanker truck, primarily tasked with transporting water from designated sites to treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a 4,000-gallon tanker truck with precision.
  • Utilize diesel water pumps for loading and unloading water at various locations.
  • Transport water to treatment facilities while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Manage the connection and disconnection of hoses for water transfer, ensuring the process is executed multiple times throughout the day.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, completing necessary documentation as required by management.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team and supervisors promptly.
  • Follow prescribed techniques to minimize the risk of mechanical failures during operation.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and operational guidelines set forth by federal, state, and local authorities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, both inside and out.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of truck mechanics and maintenance for safe operation.
  • Capability to operate various vehicles and equipment necessary for the job.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in basic math for operational tasks.
  • Aptitude for writing reports and documentation, including inspection reports.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and company policies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in maneuvering trailers safely.
  • Knowledge of air brake systems on trucks.
  • Capacity to operate vehicles with a maximum weight of 80,000 lbs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or B required.
  • Tanker endorsement is mandatory.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • At least one year of commercial driving experience or completion of a CDL training program.
  • Must meet safety-sensitive function criteria as per company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate the truck and equipment safely.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for safe vehicle operation in various conditions.
  • Capacity to lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent operation in high-traffic areas.
  • Work may involve high places and loud noise levels.
