Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Haywood Regional Medical Center. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing various laboratory tests and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform common testing procedures and report test results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal laboratory performance.
  • Conduct quality control testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment necessary for the performance of tests.
  • Analyze test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and report/document results per organizational standards.
  • Collect and analyze bodily fluids and substances for abnormalities.
  • Collect blood and study blood samples used in transfusions.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent) in Applied Science or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited college required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • MLT ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification preferred.
