Job Description and Duties

As a Pre-Licensed Psychiatric Technician at the Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center, you will provide direct care, treatment, and active treatment for clients under the direction of supervisory staff. Your role will involve developing a better understanding of clients and helping them achieve their maximum level of abilities.

Working Conditions

Typical working conditions include ongoing interaction with clients, personnel, and the general public. You may be exposed to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment.

Physical Demands

You must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory abilities to perform the duties contained in the duty statement. This includes lifting 50 pounds without assistance, participating in client containment, intervention, or restraint, and working extended hours and various shifts.

Special Requirements

Selected candidates are subject to special requirements, including a medical evaluation. You must complete a standard state application (STD. 678) and provide proof of completion of a Psychiatric Technician training program accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners by the final filing date.
