Role Overview:
The Process Lead is a vital member of the production team, tasked with overseeing and guiding their crew in the safe and efficient execution of the daily manufacturing objectives and related support activities within their designated area. This role involves approximately 30% hands-on process work and 70% leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the performance of the team in terms of safety, quality, delivery, and productivity; ensure compliance with Vestas' safety and quality standards while proactively addressing any challenges that may affect employee safety, product quality, and adherence to production schedules.
- Foster a positive workplace culture that promotes safety, teamwork, accountability, and ownership among team members.
- Act as a role model for Vestas' core values, demonstrating accountability, collaboration, simplicity, and ownership; maintain a high level of integrity, initiative, and trustworthiness while promoting a respectful work environment.
- Inspire and develop high-performance teams by encouraging participation and collaboration among team members, soliciting their input on process enhancements.
- Translate leadership goals into actionable tasks and ensure the completion of daily production objectives while managing team performance regarding safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
- Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, materials, and equipment, while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
- Facilitate open communication within the team and with support groups, suppliers, and management.
- Mentor team members and temporary staff to enhance their understanding of safety practices, quality standards, and efficient task completion.
- Set a standard for safe behavior and hazard recognition, promoting an incident-free culture.
- Ensure team compliance with safety protocols and practices, particularly Vestas' Lifesaving Rules.
- Oversee the safe onboarding of new team members, ensuring they are trained on area-specific risks and safety procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address any identified hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with management in investigating incidents and near misses.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications, conducting quality inspections as per the control plan.
- Lead root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions.
- Act as the first point of contact for non-disciplinary issues within the process area.
- Coordinate training for new team members, ensuring they are adequately prepared for their roles.
- Monitor and report on team members' training progress and readiness for independent work.
- Provide performance feedback for team members and assist in evaluations.
- Monitor process performance and contribute to solutions for quality issues.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and adherence to 5S principles.
- High school diploma or GED with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to meet essential duties at a TDR level 4 or above.
- Minimum of one year experience in a process area or previous leadership role within Vestas.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
The role requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands, lift up to 35 pounds independently, and team lift up to 70 pounds.
Work Environment:
The position is situated in a manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
