Job Description:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals to produce images that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
You will operate nuclear imaging equipment, manage patient care, and follow safety protocols to ensure the effective use of nuclear medicine technology.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures.
- Operate nuclear medicine equipment to perform imaging procedures such as PET scans, SPECT scans, and other nuclear medicine studies.
- Review patient medical histories and explain procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort and safety during examinations.
- Analyze images and assist in diagnosing conditions by identifying abnormalities and providing insights to physicians.
- Follow safety guidelines for radiation exposure to protect patients and staff, adhering to protocols for proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Document procedures and results in the hospital's electronic medical records system.
- Maintain equipment and ensure that all imaging machines are in proper working order.
Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
Technologies:
Proficiency in Meditech software for documentation and image management is required.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certifications:
Must have valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist licensure or certification in the state of New York.
Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., ARRT or NMTCB) is required.
