Position Overview

The Senior Dining Room Supervisor plays a crucial role in guaranteeing that every guest enjoys a memorable dining experience. This position involves supervising all aspects of service within the establishment while upholding exceptional service standards and delivering prompt and courteous customer care.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Mentors and instructs servers, both student and non-student employees, on their responsibilities and customer service techniques.
  2. Monitors the completion of tasks assigned to servers and provides constructive feedback on their performance and growth.
  3. Manages the scheduling of all service staff to ensure adequate coverage.
  4. Oversees the service team during preparation, service, and post-service clean-up to guarantee an outstanding guest experience, adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
  5. Welcomes and serves all patrons, maintaining professional service standards and a positive demeanor towards guests, colleagues, and students.
  6. Delivers swift and efficient service while ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.
  7. Handles all server responsibilities related to food and beverage service, including taking orders and processing payments.
  8. Responsible for accurately recording and reporting all food and beverage sales.
  9. Places orders for all Front of House requirements.
  10. Maintains accurate menu identification information.
  11. Assists in planning and executing the timing and sequence of dining room service.
  12. Ensures proper closing procedures are followed at the end of each shift.
  13. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the service area and dining room, including restocking supplies as needed.
  14. Communicates dietary restrictions and allergies to the kitchen management.
  15. Supports dining room staff with guest seating, phone inquiries, and other operational tasks.
  16. Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage offerings to enhance the guest service experience.
  17. Utilizes the reservation system effectively.
  18. Provides assistance in various operational areas as required.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: At least one year of experience in a dining room service role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with reservation systems.
  • Experience with restaurant POS systems.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of food, including menu terminology and culinary techniques.
  • Proficient in restaurant POS technology.
  • Exemplifies hospitality qualities.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities; adaptable, reliable, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrates a high level of responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Exhibits high energy and self-motivation.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and efficient.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Punctual and dependable.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
  • Capability to stand and work for extended periods during regular service hours.
