Design Engineer

Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer at MiTek USA, you will be responsible for developing and producing steel designs and contract documents for new and retrofit building/structural projects. This role requires a strong understanding of statics, dynamics, and structural load path, as well as excellent mathematical skills in algebra, trigonometry, physics, statistics, calculus, and strength of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create computer models using preliminary drawings and/or design criteria.
  • Develop and draw by hand project design details for construction.
  • Develop gravity and lateral frame solutions.
  • Participate in field visits to observe SidePlate connection fabrication and erection.
  • Prepare structural calculations and drawings for submission to Engineers of Record and Authorities having Jurisdiction.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Review, evaluate, and correct structural computer models provided to SidePlate by Engineer of Record, as required.
  • Understand project schedules and deliver contract documents on time.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
  • Completion of FE Exam is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of statics, dynamics, and structural load path.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable building codes, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical publications, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Strong skills in mathematical skills in algebra, trigonometry, physics, statistics, calculus, and strength of materials, structural analysis, and design.
  • Ability to interact at a high level of professionalism with others, including co-workers, vendors, and customers.
