Job Overview

This position is open to all US Citizens.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Provide expert knowledge and strategic guidance in the realms of energy and power science and technology within the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and Department of Defense (DoD), focusing on operational energy, energy resilience for installations, and advanced combat equipment.


2. Lead the coordination of energy science and technology initiatives across various directorates, ensuring alignment with Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) metrics and participation in wargames and exercises.


3. Develop and maintain comprehensive roadmaps for energy science and technology, ensuring alignment with DAF priorities and facilitating the transition and adoption of innovative technologies.


4. Analyze strategic documents and directives from higher headquarters to ensure the strategic direction of the energy office is effectively aligned.


5. Advise decision-makers within the organization on strategic alignment and provide insights for improvements based on expertise.


6. Identify and implement metrics to monitor the execution and health of the energy science and technology strategic plan, reporting findings to senior leadership as necessary.


7. Oversee the application of model-based systems engineering, digital material management, and agile program management to enhance the evaluation and transition of technologies.


8. Facilitate collaboration with industrial, international, and academic partners, as well as other government agencies, regarding emerging technologies and their applications.


The selected candidate will serve as a Senior Energy Science and Technology Specialist within the Energy Office of the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate.


This role may be filled as a Flexible Length Renewable Technical Term Appointment, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position.


Telework:

This position is eligible for telework opportunities, subject to agency policy.

Required Qualifications:

1. US Citizenship.
2. A professional degree in science or engineering from an accredited institution.
3. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

1. An advanced degree in a relevant field from an accredited university.
2. Proven technical expertise in energy and power science and technology, as well as digital material management.
3. Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
4. Experience in facilitating workshops with diverse stakeholders to build consensus.
5. Willingness to undertake regular travel.
6. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills tailored for technical and senior leadership audiences.
7. Comprehensive understanding of the DAF corporate structure.
