We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Research Assistant to join our team at Ellsworth Adhesives. As a key member of our KitPackers/ReslinLab (KPRL) Division, you will play a critical role in preparing samples and testing for qualifying raw materials, validating properties of new products, and supporting the development of innovative adhesive solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Sample Preparation and Testing: Prepare samples and formulations using chemicals and laboratory mixing equipment, following written instructions and standard laboratory procedures.
- Experimental Formulation Testing: Test experimental formulations for properties such as viscosity, cure time, thermal transition temperatures, adhesion, and hardness using standard laboratory instrumentation.
- Chemical Testing and Analysis: Perform a limited variety of chemical tests as instructed, seeking resolution on experimental data deviating from expected results.
- Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: Calibrate and verify equipment as specified in SOPs and Work Instructions, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Document procedures, observations, data, and other results in an approved format in an electronic laboratory notebook.
- Inventory Management: Stock inventory in the lab and request orders for supplies as needed.
- Lab Maintenance and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized laboratory space, adhering to 5S principles.
- Education: Associate's degree in chemistry or a related field is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience: 0+ years of related work experience.
- Technical Communication Skills: Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Safety Awareness: Strong safety awareness and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Computer Skills: Experience with the use of personal computers and other standard office equipment.
- Schedule: 8:30am-5pm (Monday-Friday).
