Fort Bend County is seeking a highly skilled Library Services Coordinator to provide professional library services in a branch library or central library unit.
Key Responsibilities- Patron Services: Interact with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials and meeting informational needs. Search online catalog, databases, and print sources to answer complex patron inquiries.
- Staff Supervision: Direct assigned staff and oversee activities in a branch library or portion of the central library unit.
- Statistical Reporting: Keep statistical records of unit activities and prepare appropriate reports.
- Training and Development: Provide guidance and support to staff in the use of bibliographic and computer-assisted services. Assemble and arrange displays and bibliographies of books and other library materials.
- Community Outreach: Represent the library system at schools, community groups, or professional associations. Plan and conduct tours and programs for adults or children.
- Employee Development: Instruct and train new employees. May plan and review work of other employees.
- Collection Development: Recommend materials for selection. Assist in collection development and maintenance.
- Youth Services: Assist with story time, Summer Reading Club, outreach programs, and other youth-related activities in the Youth Services Department.
- Emergency Management: Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate County Managers.
- Education: Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited school. Providing MLIS transcript is required at time of applying.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current library practices and technologies. Good computer and organizational skills; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
- Work Environment: Night and weekend work is required.
Fort Bend County offers a competitive salary range of $30.91 hourly based on qualifications. All full-time and part-time employees are members of the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS). Full-time employees also enjoy a wide range of great benefits.
