Key Responsibilities:- Develop novel solid-state materials for advanced battery applications through experimentation and design.
- Generate new materials via scalable pathways, including high-temperature solid-state synthesis processes.
- Characterize the composition, crystal structure, and microstructure of cathode materials.
- Design and conduct electrical/electrochemical performance measurements at both component and cell levels.
- Mentor junior team members, technicians, and interns, providing technical consultation to cross-functional partners.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of lithium-ion batteries and cathode chemistry, including composition-process-performance relationships.
- Hands-on experience with wet chemistry and synthesis, characterization, and testing of commercial lithium-ion battery materials.
- Demonstrated proficiency in materials characterization and cell testing methodologies, data analysis, and interpretation.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in experimental design and analysis of results.
- Ability to work in a laboratory and dry room environment, requiring standing for 25% or more of the time.
- Dexterity to handle delicate battery components and laboratory equipment.
- Ability to physically operate scientific equipment and instruments.
- PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline with a minimum of 1-3 years of post-graduate experience in lithium-ion batteries.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in battery materials for lithium-ion batteries, with a track record of delivering results.
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in inorganic powder material synthesis, from wet chemistry to gas-solid/solid-solid high-temperature processes.
- A curious, innovative, and highly collaborative mindset.
